Evidence of Work
For this project, we researched a disorder or disease that is caused by a complication in protein synthesis. We presented our research on this with a brochure for the class.
Content
Nucleus- Dense organelle that contains the genetic information.
DNA- (Deoxyribonucleic acid) carries genetic information in cell; stored in chromosomes in the nucleoli.
Translation- The second step in protein synthesis, where the mRNA travels to the nucleus. Amino acids get attached to specific transfer RNAs (tRNA) and the DNA is copied.
RNA Polymerse- Enzyme that is responsible for making RNA.
mRNA- Messenger RNA. Travels from the nucleus to the ribosomes during protein synthesis.
Codon- A Sequence of three base pairs to be read three at a time. In mRNA.
Anti Codon- A Sequence of three base pairs to be read three at a time. In tRNA
Transcription- The genetic info in the DNA is transferred to a RNA molecule. It happens in the nucleus
Ribosomes- Organelles that bind mRNA and transfer RNA.
Amino Acids- Simple organic compounds.
tRNA- Carries amino acids to ribosomes
Polypeptide Chains- A large amount of amino acids bonded with peptide bonds.
Protein Folding- Third step of protein synthesis. Protein folding begins immediately after translation.
Protein- a necessary macro molecule useful in cells, that carries out cell tasks based upon its shape.

Reflection
My research was carefully found, and was correct. The presentation went very well. My collaboration with my team was poor, we were not time efficient in communicating our ideas to each other. Our team made a ghant chart to plan our project, which helped get our team on the same page. Unfortunately, our team didn't take enough time to think through our plan. This is partly my fault; we were eager to start before our team fully knew what was going on. I've learned that planning is vital for a successful project. I also learned that a good presentation of our work is everything for a successful project.
